One to one photography course in Malvern

Yesterday James came all the way from Henley for some one to one photography training before he sets off on a rather nice-sounding holiday.  Phil was able to focus on the things that James can never get right in his pictures – namely, colours and exposure.  Cue lots of messing with white balance (always important for sunsets and azure sea views (not jealous, us, oh no!) and tweaks to the exposure compesation to get the brightness correct for slightly awkward subjects.

As always, we got outside to have a play in the PMS HQ gardens, and James was able to get some lovely shots of the resident creep-crawlies, as well as some hard-to-meter-and-white-balance flowers and trees. It was a relaxed but informative day, as it usually is on our one to one photography courses.  We like doing these, and it’s fun for us to be able to adjust the class specifically to the customer, so that they get exactly what they want.

Here’s James’s favourite picture of the day, taken on a lowly old 1000D with a kit lens.  Just about the lowest form of DSLR, but you wouldn’t know it:
